the rhythm of a morning

the sun is just coming up over the horizon

as I get to the end of the causeway in the morning

on my way to work

I can see our rather tiny island over the Atlantic

from the upper floors of the parking garage at the train station.

and when I turn my head toward home

the skies will be ribbons of colour

and the day will have turned from dawn into morning.

On the weekends I am headed out of doors...

walking along the shore or down the path and through the wood

if you stumble across a bit of heart shaped lichen

how can you help but sing?

If I shower in the morning it's a quick one.

goats milk wild rose scented soap fills the air

in warmer weather the window's open

and it smells like sea as well

Coffee or a pot of tea

We use a kettle on the flame of an old stove

 the sound of hot water pouring into the French press

the smell as it fills the sunny kitchen

are like the tread of familiar footsteps coming home

Morning chores bring an order to the day

and set the stage for when we come home at evening.

The kitchen floors are swept, the dishes are stacked upon their shelves,

and a load of laundry is freshly folded and put away.

morning grace

t

the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"therefore I will hope in him.."

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
