when last we saw her

she was an old lady now

rattling around lost and forgotten

a shell of who she first had been

like a pile of yellow feathers she had found once, in the wood

she was ready at long lost

to put her memories to rest

so she stretched out her feathered wings

 and disappeared from sight

through a hole in the sky

  1. I like the optimism at the end.....the image of her stretching our her feathered wings and flying on through a hole in the sky "when last we saw her"---beautiful :-)

  2. This is a beautiful ending to a life. If only it were so easy when our time arrives. I'm struck by how lovely this is, and keep rereading. Thank you.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
