10 february

i am not a celebrator at valentine's day

i do not care for doily hearts

or paper cards

or overpriced roses that die in less than a week

anonymous declarations of love on one particular day of the year

if i am loved i want it thrown at me like a rock

smacking me in the face without subtlety

i like it wrapped up in shell that opens to reveal itself

in the sunlight

or placed in a milkweed pod that brushes against me as i walk the pathway

spell it out for me

draw the lines of love in the sand

everyday

  1. I agree! Thank you for linking up and the theme was just a challenge for me. I don't want people to feel like they have to stick to a theme! Have fun and do what you want! Have a great day!

  2. Beautiful photographs, and your sentiments so perfectly expressed.

  3. Beautiful poem - they are meditations for the day, to ponder and think about!

  4. Me too...but you'll never believe it if you visit my blog today. Well, perhaps if you ignore most of the post and just look at the Macro shot! Hahaha! I've bet smacked by a wave of cheeziness this year! These are lovely - I enjoy finding shapes in unexpected places! Last week I found a bit of snow on a branch that had frozen into the shape of a swan!!

  5. So right! It's a sweet little holiday for school children, with heart-shaped cookies and chocolates, but it's a bit over-the-top when people decorate valentine trees and save their declarations for this one day.

  6. Oh I don't "do" Valentine's Day, in real life either. Can't eat chocolate. Don't like cut flowers, in the house. They make me sneeze.

But!!! I love the excuse to decorate our home, with Red and Sparkles. -grin-

  9. Wonderful thoughts. I completely agree! I'd rather celebrate our love every day of the year than one specific day set aside for over priced flowers and such! Great photo!

  16. Love hurts, evidently. Like a rock in the face. :) ~

  17. What passed for love in my childhood was not love at all. I find it hard to accept love now. People who love me need to go big or go home.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
