8 December

he had become his own prison

 pursuing the cold cruel cash

as if it could be a beloved

he cloaked the wild in himself

he looked through a lens

-a box on the wall -

that skirted the real issues

and he reached for goods as if they were

stars

like a venus in the sky

trying to shine

but he never never looked up

  5. LOVE! The spirit that threads through your words shares wisdom. I love "he reached for goods as if they were stars..."

  7. Nicely done. This is the human condition, head down, bowed, art the treadmill to consumerism.

  8. One must wonder if he is afraid to look up, afraid he might find his true face reflected in those far away lights.... Well woven,

  9. How the words suggest the greed, temptation, abuse and hedonism of humanity. Luckily the stars have patience and hopefully mankind will look up eventually but not before much harm is done. Perhaps poets at least will understand Christmas!

  10. I like that he never gave up, we will not fail, as long as we never give up....

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
